-KAREN
Karen became a parent in 2020. This birth was difficult, but it didn't have to be. The Pandemic heightened her feelings of confusion and loneliness during pregnancy and birth, and she longed for a community of support. When connecting with other Covid-parents, Karen saw the negative impact of this isolation across families. Birth is an experience no one should have to do alone, so she resolved to be a part of the solution. As a Birth Doula, Karen provides the emotional, physical, and informational support she wanted for her first pregnancy. She is a fierce advocate for her clients and their preferences, and creates a nurturing and empowering space for all emerging parents. At the heart of Karen's Doula practice is an appreciation of the history and traditions of the profession. She believes that everyone has the right to access quality care that is respectful of their cultural background, beliefs, identity, and values. Karen has a BA in Physical Anthropology, rooted in a deep curiosity about anatomy and physiology. Karen lives in Petaluma with her husband, two energetic kids, and cuddly cat. She loves trying new recipes, spending quality time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors by hiking or rowing on the river, and living a life full of cheesy diet and wordplay.
